Mr. Whitney will examine issues of faith and the contribution Catholics have made to intellectual life. He will present a definition of Catholic humanism and a brief history, along with how today’s postmodern university has become indifferent or hostile to the Catholic faith.

Speaker:
Gleaves Whitney is Senior Fellow of the Russell Kirk Center for Cultural Renewal. He was the chief historian for Michigan Governor John Engler. Mr. Whitney has recently published three books: John Engler: The Man, the Leader, and the Legacy; American Presidents: Farewell Messages to the Nation; and The American Cause. He is also series editor of the six volume Messages of Michigan Governors. He is currently editing a volume of the wartime speeches of American Presidents.
